Music Rehearsal rings with the sound of Music

On Tuesday March 29th, on a beautiful sunny autumn evening, our Quad rang with the sound of Music. About 40 parents and friends joined us to enjoy informal entertainment as diverse as Vance Joy’s ‘Riptide’, pounded out by “DSK”, a Year 12 Band and Beethoven’s Sonatina in G, sweetly played on piano by Year 9 student Lisa Brown.
Nicholas Merry shared his original piano composition, “Reflections”. We all shared a hearty laugh at the humorous acting of Indigo Tomlinson, kitted out in magnificent wimpole, and Carolyn Betterton, resplendent in hooped skirt as they performed a scene from ‘Romeo and Juliet’, their entry for the 2022 Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival. The Cantabile girls’ choir sang a lovely Kirby Shaw arrangement of Bart Howard’s ‘Fly Me to The Moon’, ably supported by Tobias Grove on bass, George Sherwood on drums and Mrs Hunt’s husband Anthony on piano.
The Hunt’s neighbours are definitely going to miss hearing that song again.
The recital finished as it began, with an item by the Senior Music Class. They revitalised an old classic, the somewhat disturbing number ‘Every Breath You Take’ by Sting.
