Cambridge International High Achievement Awards

Each year, Cambridge International recognises those students who have excelled in the June and November examinations.  In 2021, Huanui College students attained six awards;

IGCSE Level

At IGCSE level, 50% of all grades were either ‘A*’ or ‘A’.  Of these, 29% were ‘A*’.  

A ‘D’ grade at this level is equivalent to qualification to Year 12 in a subject and 93% of all grades were ‘D’ grade or higher.  

Giverny Miedema attained six A* grades, with scores of 98% in English and 99% in Mathematics.  

Hannah Campi, Clara Isles, Caitlin Wilson and Emily Merry attained four A* grades. 

Isabela Cameron, Niko Firth, Joe Gardner, Sinead Gordon, Helena Newman and Lucy Nichols attained three ‘A*’ grades.  

AS Level

At AS Level, 31% of all grades were at ‘A’ grade (there is no A* grade at this level).  As Cambridge is a global qualification, a ‘D’ grade is university entrance level in New Zealand and 80% of all grades were ‘D’ grade or above.  

Kala Payinda attained five ‘A’ grade awards.

Amelie McIlhinney attained four ‘A’ grade awards.

Hunter Pirret attained four ‘A’ grade awards.

Ryan Smith attained four ‘A’ grade awards.

Uday Bhakta attained three ‘A’ grade awards.  

Of Year 12 students, 64% attained their university entrance. 

A Level

At A level, 48% of all grades were ‘A*’ or ‘A’.  Of these, 32% were ‘A*’.

As for AS level, a ‘D’ grade is university entrance level in New Zealand and 92% of all grades were ‘D’ grade or above.  

Heather Nichols attained two ‘A*’ and two ‘A’ grades.  

Ronan Payinda attained two ‘A*’ and two ‘A’ grades.  

Danielle Gorrie attained two ‘A’ grades and one ‘A’ (AS) grade.

Yiwen Mao attained two ‘A*’grades and one ‘A’ grade and one ‘A’ (AS) grade. 

Jack Trubshaw attained two ‘A’ grades.   

Of Year 13 students, 86% attained their university entrance. 

 

At NCEA Level 2 English 80% of all grades were at ‘Achieved’ level or higher with 65% the equivalent level for Mathematics.

In Te Reo Maori, 100% of the grades were ‘Merit’ level or ‘Excellence’.
